Chianti Classico
An age-old vocation
The winery is located in Radda in Chianti, one of the nine municipalities that make up the UGA (Additional Geographical Units) of Chianti Classico and one of the oldest in the entire appellation
The territory of Radda in Chianti is characterised by low temperatures, among the coolest in the entire Chianti Classico DOCG production zone, significant fluctuations between daytime and night time temperatures, clayey soil rich in heavy stone and the presence of abundant wildlife. An area rich in woodland and old farmhouses, wonderfully beautiful and difficult to cultivate, excellent for growing Sangiovese grapes of the highest quality.
Our vineyards

The origins of the Black Rooster, symbol of the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation and of this land of great wines, are lost in legend. It is said that two roosters decreed the territorial borders of the two republics of Florence and Siena.
To end the disputes, it was agreed that two horsemen would depart from their respective cities and mark the border at the point where they met. They would depart at dawn, when the rooster crowed.
The Sienese chose a white rooster, while the Florentines entrusted their fate to a black one which had landed in their camp by chance.
The day before the challenge, the Florentines fasted their rooster, who spent the night awake and hungry, and began crowing long before dawn.
The Florentine knight set off much sooner than his rival, allowing Florence to extend its dominion over the contended territories. Since then, the Black Rooster has symbolised the land between the cities of Siena and Florence and of the great wines made here.
